On Repeat in Oak St.: Calvin Harris - Sweet Nothing ft. Florence Welch

Fall has brought our Oak St. store a ton of excitement with new lines, trunk shows galore, and many visits from our favorite customers--all of you. Without further ado, we bring you Calvin Harris and Florence Welch, we've been rockin' with them as the season moved from warm to cold, and back to warm and, well, you know how dramatic the weather is. The 'Sweet Nothing' video is packed with highs and lows, just like our Windy City, so we're pairing this tune with a couple pairs of glasses from our new line, Leisure Society. Their sunglasses pack some serious punch and whole lotta drama with past-time appeal--perfect for our sweet home Chicago.

ZACHARY BERNARD

In snazzy blogger fashion we'd like to present to you, Zachary Bernard. Our new proprietary eyewear line, designed by the owners of glasses, ltd., Zach and Bernie Winitz. For starters, we're hitting you with a stellar video (I said snazzy blogger fashion, right?), then we'll give the inside scoop on these wears.

"Four eyes" has never been so complimentary.

The recently-launched, locally designed Zachary Bernard collection breaks the mold when it comes to high-end designer eyewear. Zach and Bernie developed the line for their trend-setting customers--the ZB glasses are unlike any other luxury line with natural buffalo horn, spring back arms, and tints that blend with the dark frames exquisitely--the collection has an affinity for function to boot!

Stop into the Oak St. store to check out a pair (and hurry, word on the street is these things are flying off the shelves). You've go to see it to believe it!

On Repeat in Oak St.: Bloc Party

Bloc Party is helping us kick off our weekend! Their fourth album, named Four, was released a couple of weeks ago and we've been jamming to "The Healing" ever since. The cover art for the their fourth album reminds us of the slightly oversized Oliver Peoples sunglasses. These handcrafted beauties also come in a cherry red, that's ripe for the season.

On Repeat in Oak St.

Welcome to our weekly segment, On Repeat in Oak St., here we'll tune you into the songs we're jamming to in our Oak St. store. We'll remix the songs with a little fashion or eyewear style to keep a couple of your senses stimulated.

This week we've got Passion Pit's, It's Not My Fault, I'm Happy. The Gossamer album, in general, reminds us of the end of hot summer days, when the sun starts going down earlier and brings with it that gorgeous warm light.

Rock out this Labor Day Weekend, Chicago!

Good Morning, Chicago!

We have all had those mornings, the ones wear you wake ready to seize the day, you sing in the shower and smile as you check your emails. Well, this blog post isn't about those, it's about waking up on the wrong side of bed and still looking good with a little help from our favorite accesory. Have you ever rationalized wearing your sunglasses and crouching down behind your computer screen at work, or actually justified keeping your shades on as you ride underground in the CTA train and then wear them all the way up the elevator to your floor? Heck! We're advocates of this Monday-blues like behavior, we'll even admit to the occasional sunglasses-at-night episode (sometimes you just need your dark eyewear). So here it is, the perfect Fall trend for the moments when all you want to do is hide a little. Oversized glasses!
Pair perfectly with a coffee accessory.

Livin' large on Olivia Palmero.
Big statement on Ann Hathaway.
A little more of that geek chic.
Oversized glasses are at the center of the boho look, which
will take you seamlessly from the warm to cool months.
How's that for oversized?

Stay tuned for a new blog segment, we'll be mixing beats and styles. Coming soon to a set of speakers near you!

L.E.F. in The City

In case you couldn't make it, we're giving you the insider peek at our latest Luxury Eyewear Fashion party. The weekend brought good weather and good people to a private gathering at a public house in Lincoln Park. Our crew mingled, danced, and laughed all in the name of  high-end eyewear.

Thanks to all of our trend-setting friends who came out to support!

Cheers,

Get Your Vitamin A On!

Feast your eyes on our new business card concept. These little guys are still in a "beta-phase," but we want to give you loyal followers a sneak peak at goods.

If you've been into the Oak St. store you'll notice that the art work on the walls there has the same look and feel as the new cards, stark white with high-expression, bright strokes of color. The owner of the store is the artist behind those splashy canvases and these gem-like cards. For those of you who haven't been to the store yet: We're hanging the carrot in front of you! We have the cure for poor eyesight here in the store, and it doesn't grow in a garden. Come visit us for some stylish vision correction.

Cheers!

Dark Side of The Neon

There's nothing better than opening up a fashion magazine at the start of the summer and seeing color. 2012 isn't just bringing us any color either, we're talking hot, bright, bold, neon color. What better to pair it with than some cool, dark shades. It's like high-low style for the color wheel, right? Here are some pairings we're dying to try as the temp heats up.

Caution: Don't view this skirt without a pair of basic black sunglasses.
This is a trend that is as hot as pink. Get wild with neon make up and your darkest eyewear for looks to kill.

A pop of color and some reflectors make these accessories a perfect match.
This look is a little sweeter than some of the above. We love how the sunglasses get sweeter and softer with it.
For a truly creative approach to neon attire, mix it up with primary colors. Our team has been sporting the look with SALT's Hixson. Come in, check them out, and stay cool all season long.

Editor Pick: Thom Browne

Did you hear the scoop? Glasses, ltd. is carrying the new Thom Browne x Dita eyewear collection which features sunglasses, eyeglasses and eyeglasses with clip-on tinted lenses. The nostalgic design of the frames was inspired by classic poets, writers and musicians of the 40s, 50s and 60s and completed with Browne’s signature tri-color red, white and blue branding. What can we say? The man is a pure genius. Best known for his menswear, these unisex glasses are to be a hit with the ladies. We selected the most major pieces from the collection, which is made up of nearly 60 different style/color choices, some rather standard and some super theatrical are available in our store.

Come in and try 'em on!
